And the Mountains Echoed

And the Mountains Echoed

I'm so excited about this book birthday!  And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini is in book stores TODAY!  Khaled Hosseini is one of my favorite adult authors, and it's been six years since A Thousand Splendid Suns, one of my all-time favorite books, was published.  The tenth anniversary of The Kite Runner is being celebrated this year.  I can't wait to read this book!  I'll be attending an author event with Khaled Hosseini next week at The Cincinnati Public Library (which recently won the 2013 National Medal for Museum and Library Service and was presented the award by Michelle Obama)!  I will get my book signed, and I will be very excited to hear what Hosseini has to say!  I will blog about that after the event and after I read the book.  Who will be reading with me?!

Goodreads Summary:

An unforgettable novel about finding a lost piece of yourself in someone else.

Khaled Hosseini, the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations.

In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most.

Following its characters and the ramifications of their lives and choices and loves around the globe—from Kabul to Paris to San Francisco to the Greek island of Tinos—the story expands gradually outward, becoming more emotionally complex and powerful with each turning page.

Just to brag on our city's wonderful library a little...

  2. I can't wait for you to read it! He's definitely improved as a writer! I was debating whether to go see him speak but, even though the price included a copy of the book, it was a little too much for me! Have fun!
