Thanks to Kid Lit Frenzy, I made a goal to read more children's nonfiction this year which I will be featuring on my blog every Wednesday.
Yesterday, I finished reading A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park to my sixth graders. This book will be a great follow-up:

The great photographs and information about children in various countries and their relationships with water are interesting and eye-opening. It's fascinating to see how people around the world live and survive. In a country where we take water for granted, it's hard to believe that there are people living in places where clean water is difficult to find. My students were moved to action after watching videos like the one below and listening to A Long Walk to Water. We're so excited to be participating in a project that will raise money for Water for South Sudan, Inc.!

I loved Extreme Earth which I shared today on my blog but I also started Donalyn's Reading in the Wild! It's awesome. I can't wait for it to be officially released and for everyone to get their hands on this book. So great! Thanks for sharing!
