Optimism!

The Greatest

One of my favorite commercials is of a young boy practicing baseball by himself and proclaiming:

Boy: I’m the greatest hitter in the world!
Strike One.
I’m the greatest hitter in the world!
Strike Two.
Hmmm.
I’m the greatest hitter in the world!
Strike Three.
Wow…I’m the greatest pitcher in the world!
Yes!
Music: Celebrate good times, c’mon!

Pure optimism!  You can tell this boy is going to be happy and successful.  When you experience a so-called failure, it is not the end of the journey.  It is just a detour on the journey to take you on the path you were supposed to be on in the first place. Or maybe it is a detour to take you on a more scenic road.   It may take you longer to get to your destination, but it may bring more enjoyment and perspective.  When I think I've failed at something, or I'm disappointed something didn't work out like I wanted it to, I think about this commercial and smile.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the video on YouTube, but if you'd like to see it, I found it at the Values.com website.

I had a couple setbacks this week that really bummed me out. Watching this commercial again really helped. :-)
