Peter Lerangis Author Talk and Signing

I was so glad I made the trip to Cincinnati to my favorite independent children's bookstore, Blue Manatee, yesterday to see Peter Lerangis talk about and sign his new book, Seven Wonders Book 1: The Colossus Rises.  What we got was a performance!  Peter's other career could be as a comedian!  He talked tongue and cheek about his writing process, bragged (rightfully so) about the phone call from the White House inviting Peter to accompany Laura Bush, Marc Brown, and R.L. Stine on Air Force One to meet Mrs. Putin at the Russian Book Festival in 2002, and we took a virtual tour of his childhood and writing studio filled with funny antedotes.  So fun!  His new book looks very exciting and is the first in a series of seven.  The series will also be accompanied by shorter e-books in between each release.

Indie Bound description:

One Boy
Jack McKinley is an ordinary kid with an extraordinary problem. In a few months, he's going to die.
One Mission
Jack needs to find seven magic loculi that, when combined, have the power to cure him.
One Problem
The loculi are the relics of a lost civilization and haven't been seen in thousands of years.
Seven Wonders
Because they're hidden in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The thrills begin in The Colossus Rises, the first installment in the epic seven-book adventure series Seven Wonders, from master storyteller and bestselling 39 Clues series author Peter Lerangis. The highly anticipated series has received early praise from Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series, who says, "A high-octane mix of modern adventure and ancient secrets, The Colossus Rises is Lerangis's most gripping work yet. Young readers will love this story. I can't wait to see what's next in the Seven Wonders series!"

Lerangis is the author of some pretty amazing children's and teen books.  Here is a small sampling:
The Sword Thief (39 Clues, #3)
Several 39 Clues Books
Last Stop (Watchers, #1)
The Watchers Series
Somebody, Please Tell Me Who I Am
Schneider Family Book Award 2013

The Code
The Spy X Series

I chose this video partly because of the awesome fifth grader who interviews Peter!
