Slice of Life Story Challenge - Day 2 - Footings and Foundation

It's Day 2 of the March Slice of Life Story Challenge, and I'm writing a goodbye letter to our house in a series of memories since we will be moving in April.

I went to this website to help me reconstruct, in photos, the building process.
The lot is cleared.
Basement dug and footers poured

Just as the footings and foundation were poured and formed, providing a stable base for our home, we began to get our footings and foundation in Lebanon.  The girls went off to school, and I started my job as a 5th grade teacher at Berry Intermediate.  Libby came to school with me since 5th and 6th grade were housed in the same building.  We both enjoyed that.  It was something familiar in a time of change and uncertainty.  I also forgot how hard teaching was and had to cement my philosophies and best teaching practices once again into my daily routine.  It was exhausting!  Katie started  third grade with Ellie at Donovan Elementary (they had to go to before-school care and both hated it); it was nice for her to have a familiar face.  September 2004 brought a lot of excitement and progress!

  1. Wow! After seeing pictures of your grown daughters on Facebook and seeing these ones of them as little girls is another realization of just how fast kids grow up!! 2004 doesn't seem like that long ago to me!

Good luck with your upcoming move!

  2. What a lovely way to catalog your memories! Thank you for sharing, and all the best on your move.

  3. Oh, dear, I could be or maybe should be doing the same thing. We are in the house we built on our 5 A lot 18 years ago, and are going to be selling it this spring. We have all the building stages in pictures. I'm going to miss our cabin on an island in the woods.
I will have to check back and see how your good-bye is progressing.

  4. So sweet - especially the one with your two girls right there at the foundation.

  6. Holly, I am loving the journey back in time and I am fascinated by the building process. I saw your comment to me on Day this morning and it gone this afternoon. Are you having the same trouble with Blogger?

  7. I love this post and I'm looking forward to reading more and seeing this journey! How exciting!!!

  8. Foundation for your home. Foundation for your family. Lovely.
