Birthday bookends.
Libby's birthday weekend marks the beginning of the pandemic and the one-year-after mark. We celebrated our St. Patrick's Day girl the weekend the world began to shut down in 2020. Our family still got together - knowing, but not knowing, what the year ahead held. We saw each other a few times the week following, and then...we saw nobody.
Now, a year later, we got together and celebrated her birthday again. We are beginning to process what this last year meant. We feel hope on the horizon. Vaccinations are rolling out. This weekend, we reflect. We mourn. We remember. We love. We live. We look forward.
We celebrate.
Holly, it is a happy day when one celebrates a birthday. Happy Birthday to Libby. I am glad that this day marks a positive point in life. This year has been so stressful on so many. Your statement, "and then we saw nobody" made me pause and rethink the year. We basically designed our new home virtually since we lived in the epicenter of COVID on Long Island. We signed the contract to build at the end of February and did not visit the site until months later. Have a great day after the birthday. I wonder if there is anything left of that delicious looking cake.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Libby! I just wrote a post for this morning about how I actually got to "see" a lot more of my family through weekly Zoom meetings. It's definitely been a crazy year, that's for sure!
